Dr. Chujiro Hayashi (Pronounced Chew-Jeer-Oh Hi-Ash-Ee)

  • Chujiro Hayashi was born in September 15, 1878 in Tokyo, Japan
  • He was formally trained as a navel officer, plus also a navel surgeon in 1902
  • In 1925, at age 47, he received Shinpiden from Mikao Usui.  (Shinpiden translated means the mystery/secret teachings, equivalent to Reiki Master Teacher Level)
  • He was instrumental in organizing the first Reiki manual showing hand positions, symbols, body diagrams and illnesses
  • Hayashi sensei broke away to develop his own modified system of Reiki after Usui’s death and opened his own commercial clinic for paying clients at a small clinic in Tokyo named Hayashi Reiki Kenkyu-kai
  • On May 10th, 1941, because Hayashi sensei was a man of peace, he felt that he could not participate in WWII, so he committed suicide (Seppuku) in the presence of his wife and students
  • Before his death, Hayashi sensei initiated 17 Shinpiden Masters, (Shinpiden translated means the mystery/secret teachings, equivalent to Reiki Master Teacher Level), including his wife Chie Hayashi and Hawayo Takata í
