I practice an integrated style of Hatha Yoga incorporating the best elements from many varieties of Yoga that I ahve experienced over the years.
We start with a brief warm up period and then move toward poses which explore the theme of the class. We then finish with an appropriate cool down period followed by a guided savasana.
I find that yoga helps me to feel better in both the long term and the short term. I feel like it is the best tool that we have to prolong life, vitality, and peace of mind. It helps me to stay healthy enough to enjoy my very active life.
We use space at the Joyful Vibrations Wellnes Center. There is a large multi use room for Yoga, and private treament rooms for massage and bodywork.
Backache, sore hips, and neck and shoulder tension
They should arrive a few minutes early with a calm mind and be dressed in loose fitting clothing suitable for exercise.
The most common is twice a week.
I help my clients become present and to relax with my connection to the breath and being centered myself. I believe that my practice of meditation helps me to lower the stress vibrations of my clients. Our style of oil massage integrates techniques from different styles of bodywork; Swedish/Esalen Massage, Shiatsu and Reflexology.
Using long flowing strokes, that are inspired by the ocean, we lull the client into a profound state of relaxation. With the movement and stretches of Shiatsu we reduce chronic muscle tension and with our attention to the Acupressure Points of Chinese Medicine we balance and unblock the Qi (Chi).
I would tell them that yoga is for everyone.
Either one hour, or one and half hours.
I found a yoga book in a pile trash in 1983.
I intergrate Reiki into every treatment that I offer. I do not teach it at this time.
Usui Reiki, Tibetan Reiki, and Karuna Reiki.
I find that most of my clients are hard working busy people who comute to work, spend time at a computer, and experience some stress in their lives. Of course these are the people who need massage and yoga the most.
I completed formal Yoga teacher training programs at both Antioch Yoga with Yogakriya Nadananda, and at The Brentwood Yoga Center with Sandy Carmellini. I am registered with the Yoga Alliance.
I have attended numeous workshops with other instructors including; Jim & Kate Coughlin, Sandy Blaine, Gay White, Ada Lusardi, Zoreh Afsarzadeh, Howard Allan VanEs, Jim Gallas, Ron Valle Ph.D., Swami Veda Bharati, Swami Hariharananda Bharati, Mata Amritanandamayi, Krishna Das, Jai Uttal, Karnamrita Dasi, Kal Krishnan, Timothy McCall M.D. and Deane Juhan.
I learned a lot from the following teachers through their writings; Paramahansa Yogananda,Swami Satchitananda, Mark Stephens, Erich Schiffmann, Richard Hittleman, B.K.S Iyengar, Georg Feuerstein, Ph.D., Swami Rama, Ram Das, and Deepak Chopra.
I practice Japanese Shiatsu which is based on Traditional Chinese Medicine. The philosopy is that the session will balance Yin and yang and the Five Elements. Shiatsu involves Acupressure and gentle stretching and range of motion techniques.
I also practice Reflexology. Reflexology is based on the premise that there are zones and reflex areas in the feet which correspond to all glands, organs and systems of the body. Pressure is applied using thumb, finger and hand techniques to the reflex areas resulting in reduction of stress and promoting physiological changes in the body.
