Jennifer Menzer is a seasoned and diverse fitness professional who has been improving lives in the Boston area since 2001. As a young girl, Jenn being more the “scholarly” student, would constantly try to avoid gym class. However, at the age of 15, her mom took her to a group exercise class and a spark was created. Following this catalytic experience, Jenn began taking classes daily, and two years later at the age of 17, she began teaching group exercise part time while at college.
Jenn graduated from NYU with her Bachelors in Psychology and continued to teach group exercise classes post college as a means to supplement her income. She continued to teach during her post graduate work at Northeastern University where she graduated with a Masters in Counseling Psychology and a concentration in Women’s Studies. After three years of a professional career in the psychology field, Jenn fully realized that her true passion was health and wellness. She decided to change to a career where she would have the opportunity to support clients in a more holistic manner, as they made meaningful changes in their lives.
Jennifer obtained her certification as a Personal Trainer, and accepted a role as the Assistant Fitness Director and Personal Trainer at Healthworks in Boston, MA. She spent six years at Healthworks honing her skills, and in July 2009, Jenn decided to walk the entrepreneurial path and founded Essential Nutrition & Fitness. In December 2010, Jennifer expanded the entire operation by purchasing Saldare Body Therapy located in Boston’s South end, where she and her highly trained staff continue to help others improve their quality of life every day!
Jennifer enjoys working with all fitness levels and goals, however her specialties include nutrition and lifestyle coaching, training clients new to exercise, expectant and new mothers, clients seeking to infuse pilates and yoga into their workouts, and high intensity circuit training.

I first came to yoga as a way to recover from cycling, kettlebells and weightlifting. I fell in love with not only the physically demanding aspects of asana practice but the mind body connection this moving meditation provides.
In my private and group yoga classes I incorporate core work and functional strength moves to to provide a practice that is challenging but successful, mindful without being too serious and meaningful while still keeping is lighthearted and fun.
My favorite and most influential teachers are Kate Greer, Goldie Kaufenberg, Ame Wren, and Lynne Beiger at Back Bay Yoga.
Privates are 1 hour Group classes are 60-90 min depending on the location.
Jennifer is a Certified Master Fitness Trainer, Certified STOTT® Pilates Instructor, Certified Yoga Instructor, an AADP Board Certified Holistic Health Counselor, Certified Pre and Post-Natal Fitness Trainer, Certified Group Exercise Instructor, Certified Level 2 SPINNING® Instructor, Certified TRX® Suspension Trainer, and Certified GRAVITYSystem® Trainer.
