A medium, through the art of mediumship, specifically deals with communicating to deceased loved ones to provide comfort, closure, plus proof of survival or validation to the inquirer. A medium may use two different forms for receiving information:
(1) Mental Mediumship - through light trance (semi-conscious or intentional) using thoughts, words, images and feelings or
(2) Physical Mediumship – through full trance (unconscious or spontaneous) states that affect the physical environment – E.g. materialization.
Spiritualist churches utilize the art of mediumship in which a medium’s primary goal is to validate the existence of life after death.
