Homotoxicology is the study of the science of toxins (toxicology) and how they depose in the human body (homo for homo sapiens). There is a framework that describes how toxins are excreted in a healthy body and what happens when pathways are blocked.
Homotoxicology was invented by Dr. Hans Reckeweg, a German medical doctor, in the 1800s. Many practitioners use these principles, combined with some features of homeopathy and homeopathic immunotherapy or detox, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and German New Medicine, among others. Many practitioners also use an electro-dermal screening device or EAV machine (Electro-Acupuncture According to Voll) to evaluate clients’ meridian channels and provide guidance on treatment protocols based on the status on various organ systems.
Homotoxicology practitioners work with clients to detoxify the body. The work typically starts with support of the body so it can tolerate the mobilization of toxins, then an opening of the detoxification channels, and then specific detoxes are undertaken in sequence. There is a hierarchy of toxins and it is important to start with the more “mild” ones first. As the body strengthens, it will be possible to remove more dangerous toxins. As with other aspects of holistic medicine, you must “go slow to go fast.” The stronger your body becomes, the more you can enlist your own body to do the work towards achieving homeostasis.
