Energy psychotherapy is the application and practice of energy healing, using vibrant, energy-sensitive methods of complementary alternative medicines that are currently being developed in the rapidly-growing field of energy psychology. Energy Psychology techniques were first popularized in the early 1980s by Roger Callahan, Ph.D. under the names of "The Callahan Technique" or "Thought Field Therapy." It is an expanding field that makes use of several dynamic, effective, “user friendly” therapeutic techniques based on a renewed understanding of the body’s bio-energy systems.
Energy Psychology, Energy Psychotherapy, Energy Therapies; seek to rebalance –methodically and explicitly—certain aspects of the Human Vibrational Matrix. This Human Vibrational Matrix is electromagnetic and includes several interrelated systems. 3 will be mentioned in this article.
The flow of energy in these pathways and centers can get congested, like a log jam in a river, with the energetic constellation of stressors and/or traumas. Since thought and emotion are energy, we can understand how suppressed emotions and negative thoughts, along with energy toxins, block the natural flow of energy. This blocked energy weakens the client’s energy body and prevents a shift in the client’s behavioural patterns, and over time, if not corrected, can turn into the physical manifestation of illness. The energy body is the blueprint for the physical body. When we heal the energy body, the physical body can respond accordingly. Our physical body can be a wonderful barometer that guides us in healing our emotional, mental and spiritual energy bodies.
Basically, energy psychotherapy is all about restoring the natural flow of energy within your body. Energy Psychology is a relatively new set of techniques that combine Eastern approaches to the mind and body with Western psychology and psychotherapy ideas. Practitioners of several forms of energy psychotherapy claim that tapping acupuncture points, while thinking about an anxiety-producing event, can cure anxiety and phobias.
Although psychological functioning involves thought, emotions, chemistry, neurology, genetics and environmental aspects, at an essential level bioenergy is also involved. An audiotape or computer hard drive contain information in electromagnetic fields, similarly our brain and body operate electromagnetically. Energy psychology is applicable to a wide range of areas including psychotherapy, counseling, education, vocational guidance, physical health, pain management, sports and peak performance.
There are dozens of Energy Psychology techniques. Some of the better known ones are EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques), TAT (Tapas Acupressure Techniques), BSFF (Be Set Free Fast), GSH (Guided Self-Healing), HBLU (Healing From the Body Level Up), Seemorg Matrix, DEH (Dynamic Energy Healing), and WHEE (Wholistic Hybrid derived from EFT and EMDR).
