Addiction Treatment

Addiction covers a wide range of issues, from substance dependence to physical dependence to psychological dependence. The causes and effective treatments for addiction depend on the type of addiction and also of the framework in which the person doing the treatment operates.

There are a wide range of diverse theoretical approaches, intensity of treatments, lengths of treatment, beliefs about the underlying causes of addiction as well as definitions of success based on the definition of addiction. Private practitioners and clinics that specialize in providing treatment for addiction services other than the traditional 12-step based methods, can include psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers and other professionals, including complementary and alternative practitioners.
