Chronic Illness and Pain
Sufferers of chronic illness and pain have to struggle daily with physical challenges and the emotional roller coaster that typically occurs. As mentioned in an earlier post, being diagnosed with a non-curable yet non-terminal disease patients experience the same progression when mourning the death of a loved one. The truth is, we are mourning the loss of our previous life. We do not want to accept that there are things we will never be able to do again. We become angry, attempt denial by doing things we shouldn't and become depressed when unsuccessful. If still stuck in one of these phases, ...

Chronic Illness and Pain
I hope readers will forgive my not posting for some time but it has been a busy, exhausting, and at times, painful several weeks. Fortunately, the pain and difficulties are so worth the sense of accomplishment and feeling that I am living my life the way I choose despite chronic illness and pain. A couple of weeks ago, my husband and I moved to an old country farm-house with 20 acres. We had not planned to look for a house with land until this summer but the opportunity arose and we jumped on it despite the poor timing. We fell in love with the old house though it has no central air (which I ...
Creating a New Life by Changing Your Perspective!

Katelon Jeffereys

Conditions:
Stress, depression, negative thinking
I've been thinking about perspective lately...what we focus on and how we focus on it. In the picture above, you might focus on the tree in the foreground. You might notice the various colors, textures and designs in the bark. You might even see a face in the designs. You might focus on the branches. Or, you can focus on the bush in the background, framed between the two main branches of the foreground tree. You could focus on the other bushes in the background, to the sides of the foreground tree. You might focus on the snow. You might dislike the snow and thus form opinions or feelings ...

new tools ,growth, journey of life, mind & personal, heart desire,
I am new kid on the block here in this community. My work is about sharing my own experience and challenges I bin facing on my journey, what did work ,what didn't and by doing that, others can greatly benefit and find new ways to approach they own life and create reality that is in alignment whit who they are.So I thought to give you a short cut how life coaching couls benefit you in your life. What I say to my clients is that I am not here to tell you what you have to do, be or have. They first experience a shock, but this is the first step to stop the chatter of the mind ! Then I help them to ...

Chronic Illness and Pain
What does the term personal development mean to you? When coaching clients, I consider personal development to be My first patchwork afghan for my niece whatever helps them to grow as an individual. Personal growth can include continuing education, learning a hobby, or even starting a new job or business. Perhaps you have always wanted to learn how to knit or take up photography. People who suffer from chronic illness or pain, it is important to consider what is realistic when exploring ways to develop personally. octopus in Nisyros, Greece As I have mentioned in previous posts, the Web of ...

Life Changes
Need to make changes in your life but do not know where to begin? Before you do anything make sure that you really want to make the changes. Making changes because someone else suggest it will not be as effective or last as long as changes made because you desire a change. Your mind set control how effective a change in your life is and how well it works. That is true of changing a habit, losing weight, making a career change, or making your relationship work. Once you choose change and remove all the doubts, fears, beliefs that you have about the situation it will flow much smoother and ...
Emotional Pain can Aggravate Physical Pain

Driving Miss Zoe Last fall, I made the painful decision to give my 13 year old Lab, Zoe, peace and had her put to sleep. It was a very difficult decision as she was always head strong, defiant, yet loving and happy even during her last weeks when she stopped eating and fought taking her heart pills to ease her congestive heart failure. Even the previous morning, as frail and weak as she appeared, Zoe insisted on joining me and the other dogs on our morning walk and ran out the door when her 'daddy' returned home from work to drop something off before leaving again. For days, I struggled to try ...
The Myth of Perfection and How it Kills Creativity and Productivity
By:

Conditions:
perfectionism, fear, creative block
Pictured above: finished paintings on the wall, framing corners hanging nearby, boxes with items still waiting for more organizational shelving. This isn't a perfect studio. It's a working studio. Perfection has always been a nasty task master and one in which nothing you do is good enough so you never do anything. Period. For the longest time I had imagined a studio that was just for it's own usage. And I got one back in the 90's but due to illness I lost it (and my house). When I finally began painting again it was in a multi-use room and I was outgrowing it very quickly. The cat even ...
The Doctor's Visit

Chronic Illness and Pain
While I try to keep my postings upbeat and optimistic, for the sake of full disclosure, I must confess that I am in the midst of a fibro flare-up. Some people call it crashing but to me, crashing is sleeping for hours or days on end and I don't sleep well. It's just another symptom. A flare-up is a sharp increase in pain in certain places. When I was younger, pain would migrate - one day my hips, another my neck, ankle, or wrist. But for several weeks, the pain settled in my knees and hips and hasn't moved. Perhaps it's a sign of age. I continued with my daily routine - walking the dogs every ...

6 Ways to “be” emphathicPosted on December 6, 2011 Become interested in the person with the intention to connect. Make eye contact, soften your expression and perhaps smile. Show interest by resting your thoughts for a moment to connect to what they are sharing. Listen to their words and begin reflecting back what they are telling you to let them know they are being heard. Imagine what it is they may be feeling and guess/or ask what their need is. Be sincere by checking in and see if you are on track and have understood them in the way they wanted to share! getting InTouch – ...
