print email
Modalities: Water Therapy

Aquatic therapy is a form of rehabilitation therapy that will allow individuals to treat lower back pain and get rid of the pain permanently. Aquatic therapy is usually offered at a number of rehabilitation treatment centers for patients who suffer from severe pain and/or certain illnesses.

This form of therapy can be used on people suffering from back pain, arthritis, strains and sprains, and orthopedic issues. Professional physical therapists will work with a patient to teach them a number of techniques that can help them to lose the back pain while also improving their flexibility, endurance, strength and balance which also helps treat the pain.

After all, it is important to not only teach the patient techniques that enable them to relieve pain, but also allow the patient to learn techniques that will keep them healthy and fit.

How is aquatic therapy performed?

Aquatic therapy takes place in a heated pool designed specifically for the patients’ comfort and can be used on anyone who suffers from pain. The pool is usually heated to about 90 degrees F.

While the patient is in the heated pool, the physical therapist will have the patients perform different techniques that will ultimately benefit them and help them treat their I4 and I5 back pain. Water Pilates is just one technique performed during aquatic therapy.

Water Pilates is a form of exercise that enables the patient to increase their flexibility while also improving their own strength. Bad Ragaz is another popular technique used during aquatic therapy sessions. This technique teaches patients forms of resistance while also helping them to relax.

Water squats can also be performed by patients during aquatic therapy. Water squats are performed much like traditional squats and are beneficial to the back and legs. Some patients may even do pull ups in the water which can help relieve some of their back pain. There are many other techniques that are used during aquatic therapy. The physical therapist will decide which techniques are best for the patient to try depending on his or her condition.

How is aquatic therapy beneficial?

There are many benefits when it comes to using aquatic therapy as a way to eliminate back pain. The most important reason that makes aquatic therapy so beneficial is that when a patient participates in this form of therapy, they can reduce and possibly eliminate all of their back pain completely.

Another benefit of aquatic therapy is that it allows the patient to become stronger and gain flexibility and balance. The patient will not only be working toward getting rid of their back pain, they will also be getting in shape which will lead to an ultimately healthier lifestyle.

Last but certainly not least, most of the patients who participate in aquatic therapy sessions feel less stressed than they did before they begin aquatic therapy. Those who suffer from back pain and are looking for ways to relieve the pain would benefit greatly from just a few aquatic therapy sessions.
