Modalities: Practice Building

As I sat down at the computer to write this, it just comes to me that two of the most important things about marketing and promoting yourself and your New Age related business are the things your mother always told you to do.

She told you to always remember to say "please" and "thank you."

So, how does this relate to promoting yourself and your business?

It's easy.

When I was growing up, the other kids in the neighborhood and I would play
a game called "Mother, may I ?"

The game, "Mother, may I ?", is a game where someone playing the role of the
"mother" would call out certain instructions like "take two giant steps forward"
or "take two hopping steps back."

When it was your turn, you had to ask "mother may I?" before you completed "mother's" instructions.

If you didn't, you lost your turn.

This is sort of what happens when it comes to promoting yourself and your New Age business.

If you want to have that article published in your city's most widely read New Age publication, you've got to ask.

If you want to present a workshop on Reiki, Massage Therapy or whatever area your special talents or gifts are in, you've got to take the initiative to ask someone who is in a position to help you get what you want.

If you want to attract more customers and clients you've got to be willing to speak up and ask for what you want on your own behalf.

You've got to let people know exactly how you can help them improve their lives. Only after your potential clients and customers really understand how you can help make their lives better do you deserve to have their business
and have them as a client.

This is a message you will hear me repeat loud and often.

This is marketing.

Find people who can benefit from what you do.

Then tell them how it will help them.

One of your your biggest objectives is to find the most cost-effective ways to tell others how you can improve their lives.

When others understand exactly how you can help them, there's no need for a "sales pitch." They "sell" themselves.

So how does saying "thank you" play into helping you with your marketing efforts?

This is My Marketing Tip for the week.

Send out thank you cards to every one of your clients.

Include in the thank you card a certificate for five dollars off their next session or treatment with you.

If this is a client that doesn't have a scheduled appointment with you it will (if the incentive is great enough) motivate them to call you for an appointment.

If they have a scheduled appointment with you, this is a great way of saying thank you.

Either way you've shown someone some kindness and appreciation for being your client and are on the way to getting more business than you would have otherwise.
