Have you ever stopped to consider how many people in society suffer from physical pain?
To even begin to comprehend the exact number is mentally challenging, however, a quick guess suggests that there might be millions of people who regularly suffer from recurring painful conditions. Patient demand for the professional services of chiropractors, physiotherapists and podiatrists appears to be outstripping supply … that adds up to a lot of physical pain in our society!
Recurring injuries and conditions involving chronic pain would appear to represent a large proportion of the overall demand. Hence, many patients resign themselves to the fact that their pain must be “maintained” by a skilled professional on a regular basis. This approach is perfectly acceptable, provided you mentally condition yourself to accept pain as an everyday part of life.
For those people that beg to differ from this approach, there is an alternative method of treatment now available for recurring and chronic pain.
Reflex Kinesiology, as the name implies, combines manual muscle testing (applied kinesiology) together with reflex point testing of the feet to determine if the body has a postural imbalance.
Reflex Kinesiology was discovered by an Italian cardiologist and vein specialist, Dr Maria-Antonietta Fusco during the 1980’s. Dr Fusco’s research established a relationship between the plantar surface of the foot and muscle tone control in the anti-gravity muscles that allow the human body to stand erect. Poor stimulation of the reflex points in the feet will cause inaccurate information to be sent to the brain, which in turn, results in an unbalanced distribution of muscle tone in the static muscle chains of the body (i.e. anti-gravity muscles).
Uneven muscle tone usually manifests itself in the body as some form of postural imbalance.
As a result of this knowledge, Dr Fusco has designed an insole that selectively produces proprioceptive stimulation of the weak reflex points, which have been identified by a series of indicator muscle tests.
The end result of Dr Fusco’s research is that chronic pain caused by postural imbalance can now be effectively treated. Patients with long-term conditions such as scoliosis, flat feet, jaw pain (TMJ), Achilles Tendonitis, back pain, knock-knees, bow-legs, hip/sacral-joint pain and knee pain are finding that their recurring problems can now be successfully regressed.
By correcting weaknesses in the muscle chains, the entire body automatically has less stress placed upon the muscles and joints, therefore reducing the potential for strain and injury.
In the long term, postural improvement lessens your chances of developing osteoarthritis, rheumatism and circulatory disorders such as lymphoedema.
