PAIN FREE, DRUG FREE CHILDBIRTH, IS IT POSSIBLE?  YES.. IT IS

Thousands of women across America have been enjoying the benefits of a pain free, drug free and even enjoyable childbirth. You want to know how? Read on….

Hypnotherapy is used very successfully in the use of pain management and many other medical conditions, not the stage performer type where you stand up and make a fool of yourself, but the type that brings the benefits of relaxation, stress relief and pain control, to name but a few.

Worry and fear about childbirth causes tension which, in turn, causes pain. Remove the fear, replace it with understanding and relaxation techniques and there you go - no more pain. Well, that's the theory anyway.

Dr Grantly Dick-Read, the founder of the Natural Childbirth Trust (as it was called back in the 1920s) advocated this method and Hypnobirthing brings it to you updated for mums-to-be in the 21st century.

So how does it work? Well, Hypnobirthing reconditions the way pregnant women think about childbirth - no more horror stories - and gives them natural tools and strategies for a pain free birth. We have the video to prove it.

During Hypnobirthing classes, mums-to-be and their birthing companions (this can be anyone they choose to be with them at the birth : husband, boyfriend, mother, sister, etc) learn how to relax, they are taught special breathing techniques for before and after the birth. These prevent hyperventilation and avoids the exhaustion that often accompanies labour. Labours are often shorter and mums have often breezed into hospital at the last minute to be told that they are 8 cm dilated and birth is imminent.

On a practical level, mums-to-be are also taught about their's and their baby's dietary needs; Kegel exercises to strengthen pelvic floor muscles, massage techniques (the partners like these too!); birthing positions; how and why to avoid induction and much more besides.

In other cultures women do not expect to have pain during childbirth and so do not experience it, so why should we? The only drawback to this method that we can see is that you won't have any more gory horror stories to share over coffee, you will have to find something else to talk about!
