Cholesterol Health Foods

Modalities: Holistic Health, Holistic Nutrition Therapy
Conditions: heart health

Overall healthy eating is the best way to think about creating healthy food habits. But there are certain foods that can be great boosters for managing different conditions. With this being heart health month, I want to share a few foods that will help manage your cholesterol:

1. Walnuts - a great food for raising your hdl which is the good cholesterol that clears out the fatty substances that can clog arteries.

2. Beets - 1/3 cup of beets a day can lower your total cholesterol significantly. Making them a part of your salad makes it easy to get them in.

3. Lentils - a great source of soluble fiber - the kinds that shuttles cholesterol through the body before it can be absorbed.

4. Fish OIl - whether taken in a high quality supplement form or by eating wild salmon or sardines, this is a heart healthy food for both HDL and for lowering triglycerides.
