WHAT IS REFLEXOLOGY?
Reflexology is a profound and effective relaxation technique that promotes on-going
physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual health. It does this by opening the mind,
calming the body and soothing the emotions. It naturally recharges body, mind and spirit
with vital life-force energy via reflexes on the feet that reflect the entire body in
miniature. The subsequent feeling of overall well-being creates a state of inner peace
and complete harmony that radiates outwardly to positively affect others and the world.
Reflexology just is!
It stimulates neutral energy that allows whatever needs to happen!

WHAT IS THE BACKGROUND TO REFLEXOLOGY?
Exploring the roots of Reflexology reveals that this is an ancient form of Universal
healing that is a Divine gift to everybody. In ancient times, knowledge and practice of
this incredible therapy was widespread and frequently performed as part of sacred
rites. For centuries it was conscientiously handed from generation to generation in
almost every culture throughout the world from 2350BC, but now sadly that practice
has virtually diminished. As people distance themselves from their soul purpose, they
lost touch with the essence of their soles. Over the past century, certain individuals
have been instrumental in re-creating general awareness and have contributed greatly to its increasing popularity and today there are many outstanding souls worldwide who continue to do so. Any claim that Reflexology was discovered by any particular person does it great disservice since it is Universal Wisdom, that needs to be free of any constraints and restrictions, such as copyrights, rules and regulations, because it needs to spread rapidly for the benefit of every body!
Where on earth would we be without our feet!
WHY ARE FEET SO IMPORTANT?
Since setting foot on earth, humans have first had to “find their feet“ if they wished to get anywhere in life. Despite their relatively small size, feet transport our body, mind and soul from one life experience to the next, helping us to discover new continents by “setting foot on virgin soil” and
then hopefully by “covering a tremendous amount of ground”. The memory of every step that we take is recorded in the cells on the soles of the feet and can be accessed through the “tapping” technique of Reflexology. In this way amazing progress can constantly be made, thanks to our feet!
Every journey we take in life begins with but a single footstep!
FEET ARE THE MESSENGERS IN LIFE
Feet, as the roots of the body, are in an ideal position to provide a firm, stable and
mobile foundation for personal growth and development. Their ever-changing
characteristics make them the “messengers of life” as they continually reflect endless
life event impressions that leave their mark on the soul and soles. Regardless of culture,
age, social and religious belief systems or geographic location, everybody is aware of
their feet, or lack thereof, in one way or another, whether they like them or not!
Feet are constantly relaying vital messages to us, the urgency of which become increasingly evidentwhen feeling overwhelmed, overburdened or taken advantage of!
FEET AS A MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION
Feet are an immediate, convenient and effective means of ground transportation for
almost everybody’s journey through life and have been ever since humans set foot on
earth. Along the way, however, many have stumbled and lost their way because they have
chosen to distance themselves from their souls and so no longer understand “what’s a-
foot”. There are consequently many lost souls wandering aimlessly around the planet, no
longer knowing why “on earth” they are here and what “on earth” they should be doing.
Being so out of touch has created a horrendous state of fear and uncertainty, yet,
thankfully, the answers do lie in the feet and in their ability to show the way and move
ahead with confidence and ease.
Through the feet everybody can reconnect with and achieve their individual soul purpose!
FOOT MYTHOLOGY
In mythological terms, footprints signified the dancing, running or walking of the Heavens and feet were believed to be the place of magic powers. Throughout the world the foot was seen to symbolise the soul and in Greek legend, lameness was believed to be weakness of spirit. It was popularly believed that Achilles, Hypocrates and Moses all had sacred feet or heels that made them capable of extra-ordinary deeds.
Feet frequently appeared in mythology throughout the world to create a greater awareness of the meaning and symbology of life.
ANCESTORAL FEET
To the Ancients, feet were considered to be “Path Makers” that revealed personal traits
and were respected or despised accordingly. Bare feet were believed to indicate
poverty; winged feet were thought to be capable of flight; big feet were seen to be
solid; flat feet as despicable; hard feet showed a closed mind; hairless feet were believed to reveal weakness; overly hairy feet indicated debauchery; long feet were seen to be a sign of fertility; small feet were considered to belong to the aristocratic; whilst thick ankles were believed to belong to peasants! In the Chinese culture, feet were the ultimate sex symbol and some of the women’s feet were bound to mould them into the desired shape. This prevented their delicate bones from developing and it stunted their growth, which was symbolic of their subservience and inability to show any form of individuality at that time. Meanwhile, the Asian custom of foot kissing is still practiced in some parts of India today as a gesture of submission towards a person of a higher status.
The Red Indians believe that every time we put our foot down, our spirit simultaneously connects with the Divine Universal energies above and Mother Earth’s energies below, creating a vital link between heaven and earth.
FEET GLORIOUS FEET
Isn’t it extraordinary that despite being conceived, born and growing up with our bodies
and feet, and, although we are with them 24/7, we really do not intimately know them?
Yet our feet are two of the hardest working body parts and, as such, are the unsung
heroes of our body. Every time we take a step in life, it bears the full weight of our
whole body. This increases three to four times when we run! Our big toes convey a
quarter of our body mass, whilst our remaining toes take on another quarter leaving the
balls of our feet and heels to sustain the rest. Feet, with our hands, act as anchors, as
well as helpers of the body. They also mirror every aspect of our being. Furthermore,
feet are the body’s shock absorbers and no matter how much we use and abuse them,
they seldom let us down!
Feet are not just pieces of meat but are real live soles that accurately reflect the state of our soul!
POWERFUL FOOTPRINTS
In mythology, footprints signified the dancing, running or walking of the Heavens. They
were widely reputed to contain a person’s essence, which is why they have been
frequently used in magical charms and spells. At one time it was thought that a thorn in
the footprint of a runaway could stop them in their tracks and that the enemy could be
humbled by burning their footprint. The Aborigines believe that lameness can be caused
by placing pieces of glass or sharp stones in the foot print. In some parts of the world
some people perceive that power can be obtained from another by gathering dust or dirt
from their foot print, that is why, in certain parts of Africa, great care is taken to
obliterate footprints to prevent sorcerers and witchdoctors from using them to cast
harmful spells. Be aware what you show the world about yourself for it will always follow
in your footsteps.
Souls come in and out of our lives so rapidly yet many leave footprints and memories in our heart forever.
DID YOU KNOW THAT….
More than half the body’s bones are in the hands and feet? An average sole takes
between 8,000 and 10,000 steps a day adding up to 185,000 kilometres in a regular life
time, which is about four and a half times the circumference of the globe? When garlic
is rubbed onto the feet, especially the big toe, it can be tasted in the mouth soon
afterwards?
Through our feet we learn our truth and that truth will set us free.
WHO CAN LEARN REFLEXOLOGY?
Reflexology requires no special skills or talents, which is why this ancient wisdom can be intuitively tapped into by any body. All that is required is the willingness to reconnect with universal life energies and to generously and lovingly share these with those who wish to reconnect with their soul through their soles.
The hand that gives always receives!
HOW DOES REFLEXOLOGY WORK?
Many cannot believe that feet contribute so powerfully to the well-being of mind, body
and soul, and others doubt that such a simple technique can be so amazingly effective.
Yet it has been proven time and time again that just by massaging specific areas on the
feet, which accurately reflect state and condition of the corresponding part of the
body, homoeostasis of mind, body and soul is possible, regardless of an individual’s
degree of receptiveness. This is because massaging and stimulating feet has a ripple
effect that encourages stagnant energies within the body and mind to get moving, which
energetically dissipates any perceived obstacles, whether they are mental, e-motional or
spiritual, so that they no longer get in the way of an individual’s progress. It’s an ideal
way to stimulate glands and organs so that they have the energy to heal and re-vitalise
themselves. By sensitively touching specific reflexes on the feet, preferably in a
particular sequence, the body can totally relax and become more receptive to Universal
life force energies, which then nourish the relevant body part for top-quality
performance.
Only natural stimulants and remedies can create natural reactions in the body.
DESCRIBE THE REFLEXOLOGY TECHNIQUE
Reflexology is a perfect time to put our feet up and relax! To assist the process, there
are three main movements in reflexology. Firstly the firmer, direct technique that eases
physical discomfort: secondly the stroking or milking movement, which calms distraught
e-motions and drains the lymphatic system of any unresolved, stagnant issues:; thirdly
there is the feather touch that reassures and re-establishes a connection with the soul.
During the actual massage, the greatest concentration of energy is on the toes since
these reflect the brain, the contents of which influence the content or dis-content of
the body. The spinal reflexes, along the bony ridges on top of the arches, are then stimulated to improve perceived backing and support and help us stand up and face the world with greater confidence. Each vertebra in the spine is packed with a wealth of knowledge regarding our background and since they are also the source from which nerves are generously distributed throughout, massaging these reflexes creates overall ease and establishes a favourable well-toned environment throughout. Paying attention to the endocrine reflexes encourages complete balance and the re-establishment of homeostasis. This is followed by the systematic massage of the whole foot allowing each body part to be lovingly embraced and encouraged to function efficiently and effectively every step of the way.
The effects of Reflexology are long-lasting since the body’s own healing powers are reactivated!
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF REFLEXOLOGY?
Reflexology leaves little or no room for dis-ease or an unhealthy life style. It is the vital
key to overall relaxation! It is also an extremely powerful and effective means of
preventing and easing dis-ease, plus a very pleasant way of maintaining good health. The
benefits and advantages of Reflexology are endless since the new surge of energy first
purges the whole of any impediments through the instantaneous release of suppressed
fears and emotions, along with any aggressive primitive e-motions, which are likely to
have been hampering progress. It encourages each individual to feel their own feelings;
think their own thoughts and sense their own individuality and priorities. In this way it
enhances self-awareness and gives the body new freedom, co-ordination and energy.
Most importantly, it creates a place of tranquillity within whilst all is in chaos and
confusion around us. The multidimensional effect of naturalising all body functions
reconnects individuals with their soul purpose, giving them a more meaningful direction in
life.
A well-loved foot stands one in good stead.
WHICH DISTRESSING CONDITIONS CAN REFLEXOLOGY EASE?
Reflexology jolts individuals out of detrimental places of victim-hood and discourages
them from wallowing in pools of self-pity, because by hanging onto resentment and
anger, they are brought to a frustrating standstill from which there is little or no
progress. Reflexology encourages everybody, no matter how hurt, ill or upset, to now get
over “it” and instead recognise how each life event is a meaningful and necessary step in
life for personal growth and development, especially the more traumatic ones. By sensitively massaging the reflexes in the feet, reflexology allows individuals to reconnect with their souls, through their soles. In this way they can clearly realise and utilise their many talents, which then helps them love and accept themselves and others purely for who and what they are.
Be kind to feet because they will keep your mind, body and soul whole and complete
ARE THERE ANY SIDE-EFFECTS TO REFLEXOLOGY?
Everybody reacts differently to Reflexology because stirring the energies agitates
memories and brings to the surface deeply-buried disturbed thoughts, uncomfortable
feelings and uneasy e-motions that are likely to be getting in the way. Any so-called
“side effects” are, in fact, a very healthy and good sign of the body ridding itself of
pesky “things” that no longer serve it. Vomiting is an excellent way of emptying ourselves
of all that is “making us sick” because of being so unhappy about having to stomach
distasteful situations. A rash occurs to draw attention to annoying issues that “get
under the skin” because of rash behaviour. And so on. Drinking plenty of pure water
after the massage assists in the flushing out process. Reflexology itself, can do no harm
or no good; it is the way in which we use the energies that makes the difference
Only natural stimulation can evoke a natural response.
HOW ABOUT DIFFERENT SCHOOLS OF THOUGHT TO REFLEXOLOGY?
Fortunately there are many different approaches to reflexology, all of which stem from
the same roots. Over the years these have grown and expanded to meet the numerous
and widely differing needs of humankind. The traditional manipulative reflexology is a
very firm approach that is excellent in easing physical aches and pains; the meridian
therapy also activates the body’s natural healing powers and works towards re-
establishing equilibrium but concentrates on stimulating the meridian energy pathways in
the body. The nerve stimulation and relaxation technique, on the hand, is based on
using the ten zones that run through the body from the feet; whilst chi-reflexolgy has
evolved from Chinese philosophy. The Universal approach is gaining a lot of ground
because it constantly keeps pace with the ever-changing needs of human evolution via
the feet. Although lighter, it is deceptively effective because like homoeopathy, the belief is that “less is more”. Its gentleness is either deliciously soothing or exceedingly
irritating since the senses are heightened creating greater awareness of undercurrent
thoughts and e-motions that have been suppressed for a long time. Its extreme
effectiveness, however, lies in the ability of the client to totally relax and completely
let go without the fear of being hurt or manipulated. These are but a few of the varying
schools of thought.
Feet symbolise the strength of the Soul and provide the basis for the upright stance characteristic of human beings.
WHAT DO YOUR FEET SAY ABOUT YOU?
When did you last listen to what your toes have to say about the way you think? Or the
balls of your feet telling you about how you are really feeling deep inside? And what
about your heels? Okay I know this sounds a tad bizarre to some, but our feet are very
attached to us and have a lot to say about our health and personal well-being. They
constantly change their appearance and characteristics to give us vital clues as to which
are the best steps to take on our journey through life. Their messages are clearly
evident in the form of markings, colour changes and varying skin textures, which
constantly fluctuate, each time we change our mind. Feet generously highlight
detrimental aspects, long before they manifest in the body as dis-ease, provided we pay
attention to the signs and do something beneficial about them. Otherwise we will
continue to constantly trip ourselves up until, long-term, the uneasiness manifests as
dis-ease. By bringing the body to a standstill, when a situation is completely out-of-hand,
is sadly often the only way to get individuals to reassess their life, replacing old ways
with resolutions, which although with great intent are often sadly short-lived. Feet show
how seemingly impossible situations can be approached in a more advantageous and
worthwhile way with long-term benefits. Our feet and body speak a very clear language
and for our health’s sake we really need to listen very carefully to them, since they are
an essential part of us!
Never put both feet in your mouth at the same time, because then you don't have a leg to stand on!
WHAT CAN BE GAINED FROM UNDERSTANDING
THE LANGUAGE OF THE FEET?
Feet powerfully reflect potentially harmful and restrictive thought patterns that
hamper and hinder personal progress through life. Understanding the language of the
feet provides fascinating and beneficial insight into the workings of the sub-conscious
mind, which is the part of our body where all fears, unhappiness and terror are tucked
at the back of our mind. Those events and incidents in life that have left their mark or
impression on us provide the guidance we need to put us back on track. By observing the
ever-changing characteristics of feet, comprehension can be gained that assists,
particularly those in the healing profession, in recognising the most beneficial remedy
required for healing, as well as the best approach to conserve health. As an extension to
Reflexology, the language of the feet is an exciting and rewarding way to help others
help themselves to a happier, healthier and more fulfilling way of life.
Deep insight into subconscious fears, anxieties and frustrations can be used beneficially to accelerate personal growth and development.
WHY ON EARTH SHOULD WE CARE FOR OUR FEET?
By caring for our feet and paying attention to their vital signs, we can gain far greater
under-standing of our specific mind, body and soul needs. This awareness enhances our
ability to stand up for ourselves and face life’s on-going, yet essential, challenges for a
vastly improved quality of life on all levels: physically, emotionally, intellectually,
intuitively and spiritually. When we no longer try to squeeze our long-suffering soles into
unsuitable but perceivably fashionable and trendy footwear, we subconsciously release
ourselves from the misplaced need to be moulded and restricted by unfashionable,
outdated social and global belief systems. This gives us the poise to express our true
self openly and sensitively, allowing us to find a much more meaningful and worthwhile
direction in life. By caring for our feet, we can constantly step ahead to energetically
enjoy the many exciting experiences that come our way. Feet would love every body to
be an outstanding achiever, regardless of their walk of life, so that we can all make
remarkable progress and a valuable contribution to social and Universal wellbeing.
The characteristics of our feet reveal the story of our life.!
MODERN DAY REFLEXOLOGY
Although it is an ancient wisdom that has come a long way in helping humanity to get a-
head, Reflexology continually strives to keep pace with current changes. It does this to
keep us on track with our soul purpose. This makes it much easier to stride ahead and
encompass life’s incredible ups and downs, which are essential for rediscovering “what’s
a-foot” on our journey through life! Reflexology plays a valuable role in helping every
body adjust to the current confusing influx of powerful Universal life force energies
that are intentionally throwing us off our feet to get us out of habitual ruts, so that we
think again and do something really worthwhile with our lives. During this unsettled time,
it is essential, more so now than ever before, to go with the flow for essential
adjustments to occur in our consciousness on earth to ease the next step of human
evolvement.
Fortunately Reflexology is fast becoming recognised as the medicine of the future, just as it was in the past !
