I am Addicted to Pain Killers

print email

The Main Cause of Back Pain

I wasn't always addicted to pain relievers. In fact, I had heard stories about other people being addicted to pain killers but I never thought, not for a second, that it would happen to me. Three years ago, I was in a serious car accident with a drunk driver. While he got away from the accident with nothing but a few cuts and bruises, I was left in pretty bad condition. My neck and back have never been the same since the accident.

Becoming Addicted to Pain Killers

After seeing a doctor , I found out that I suffer from I5 back pain and C3-C4 neck pain as well. The pain is excruciating at times and very hard to deal with. Very often, I can do nothing more but stay in bed all day just hoping that the pain will subside.

I tried back support braces, heating pads for back pain, and magnetic belts for back pain but didn't have to strength to wait for their effect. I started taking narcotic pain relievers as a method of relief for my pain. It was hard for me to get up in the morning when I had to deal with such excruciating pain. A lot of the other methods that I tried didn't seem to help, so I was more interested in lower back pain treatment at home where I could treat myself.

I started using Voltaren two years ago and I have been addicted ever since. Voltaren is a narcotic and most doctors will advise a patient to only use it for a short period of time. Why is that? Probably because it is very addicting and habit-forming. When you are you used to dealing with constant chronic pain and you finally find something that relieves that pain, you don't want to let it go. And, that is exactly how I feel. I have to have my Voltaren or else I am miserable day in and day out. I have tried other things but it is really hard to relive back pain.

  Getting Necessary Help

Because I have been taking Voltaren  for such an extended period of time, I often still feel pain. It seems as though my body has become used to the medication and it does not work as well as it once did. I have researched how to get rid of back pain without taking medication but I still cannot seem to stop taking Voltaren . I realize that I am addicted to pain relievers and I am hoping to find other methods of treatment to relieve my back pain and neck pain. Without my medication, I feel as though I cannot be myself. Suffering from pain on a daily basis is very frustrating and anyone who, like myself, suffers from chronic pain will understand where I am coming from.

I have decided that I do need help with my addiction. It is obviously not healthy to be addicted to pain relievers. I hope to find new treatment options that will allow me to relieve my pain without having to take more habit-forming medication.
